Now it’s time to tell everything about Grover! What problem are you solving?

After 10 years living abroad, Michael Cassau moved back to Berlin for just 10 months. He found it extremely difficult to get all the technology he needed for such a short period of time. He could rent an apartment, a car… but what about a laptop, phone, camera, Xbox? A new movement was born. Michael founded Grover in 2015 with one simple goal in mind: to remove artificial barriers in people’s lives by offering a flexible, affordable, and sustainable way of accessing technology. Now, Grover is a thriving company of over 40 people, excited about creating a brand new movement — and helping people get more out of their lives.

What do you do and makes your service exciting?

At Grover we talk tech, but we mostly talk people. Together, we build a fresh alternative to buying, so everyone, everywhere can enjoy more experiences, work smarter, stay current with technology, live a little lighter and help save some of the world’s resources. We trust in the power of technology, but we mostly believe in the power of people to make it happen.

What kind of talent are you looking for?

Senior Backend and Frontend Developers

Can you describe the work environment at Grover?

Grover’s Berlin HQ has an open plan, a really nice selection of drinks and snacks, and the occasional office Hund — but that’s where the similarities between us and other startups stop. Others might have some nifty tech to play with lying around, but we have more than we know what to do with: 3D printers, hoverboards, drones, VR gear, game consoles, smart lamps, cameras, headphones, and even adorable robot pets. It’s amazing we get anything done.

What growth opportunities do you offer to your employees?

We believe in professional development of our staff. We encourage you to take steps to learn new things. Either conferences, meetups, fairs or courses, employees can always discuss with their Managers.

What’s the tech scene like in Germany? Are you happy to have started Grover there?

I am incredibly happy to have joined this amazing team on this challenge!

Prove that you’re The One. What would attract candidates to work for you?

Our credo of #rethinkthings doesn’t only apply to our position in the circular economy. We also rethink and refresh our goals regularly, and offer a flexible and collaborative work environment with flat hierarchies and open dialogues

What’s the future of tech careers?

Future of tech careers will be aligned around high demand for Javascript engineers as it is the most favourite technology of 2018. Hiring processes will be taking into consideration more of candidates contributions to open-source space and this trend should continue to grow. Emerging decentralisation technologies will also find more traction and demand for candidates.
